Inert to Exhibit Post-Processing, Powder Handling, and Argon Gas Systems at AMUG and Rapid

March 19, 2018

Inert will display their new PF-1 Powder Filtration System, integrated with a PowderShield enclosure and Argon-2 gas management system, in stand 23 at AMUG, April 8-12 at St. Louis Union Station, St. Louis MO, and booth 442 at Rapid + TCT show, April 23-26 at the Fort Worth Convention Center in Fort Worth, TX. Working in a closed-loop configuration, these systems allow additive manufacturers the ability safely post-process metal 3D prints, reclaim and reuse costly metal powders, maintain a strict 2 and H2O argon gas atmosphere, and facilitate other sensitive powder handling and 3D printing processes.

Safety features of the Powder Filtration Systems include a quad HEPA filter cluster to collect reactive powders, water passivation of particulate, isolation valves, and an electrically grounded design that prevents static electricity buildup or potential ignition of particles. Other features include an easily accessible lockable cabinet, stainless steel piping, 60 CFM blower, and magnehelic gauge to display pressure and indicate when filter needs replacement.

The PF systems fit easily into facilities large and small, and come in a variety of models that are tailored to the different needs of users. PF-1 is excellent for removing soot created as a byproduct of laser welding or with 3D printers. PF-2 has a higher max flow rate for larger industrial additive manufacturing processes. PF-3 contains a ceramic filter that can be safely used with higher temperatures.

Inert’s PF Systems are the latest addition to the growing line of additive manufacturing solutions offered by the company, a manufacturer of hermetically sealed systems for air, moisture, and gas sensitive processes.

Debuted at last year’s Rapid show, PowderShield is a hermetically sealed glovebox enclosure with rotating tilt table, ultrasonic vibration, powder collection equipment, argon blow off gun, and other features to remove and reclaim excess powders from prints. PowderShield also protects the operator from the health and safety risks associated with metal powder handling, such as inhalation of particles or combustion of the material.

Inert’s Argon Management Systems create and maintain strict 2 and H2O inert atmospheres for integration with 3D printers and other closed-loop systems that use reactive powders —preventing oxidization, nitriding, embrittlement, other forms of contamination.
